Caffeinator Snapshot: Profile of Hannah Kwan
If you cross Larry Page with Sporty Spice, you end up with the personality and smarts of Hannah Kwan, our website developer. After graduating from University of Victoria with a BS in Computer Science, her analytical mindset evolved to creative exploration, and her career choice reflects that.
After working in software development in the oil and gas industry, she transitioned from back-end to front-end development. Her work regularly finds her working in HTML, jQuery, Java, CSS, and PHP.
Hannah enjoys the creativity it takes to build websites for both functionality and aesthetics. Caffeinated Communications Studio is lucky to have her on our team!

Q1. Name something that inspires you.
A1. All things of Modern Design, everything from a house down to a website!
Q2. How did your path go from developer to designer?
A2. I’m still more of a developer with a sprinkle of designer. I like to use my analytical and creative skills, moving into web development allows for this.
Q4. Last time you visited a museum and which one was it?
A4. Last summer, the Seattle Art Museum
Q5. Who are your favorite musician(s)?
A5. Adele, U2, R.E.M.
Q6. Name some of your favorite movie(s).
A6. Matrix, Good Will Hunting, Despicable Me (“It’s So Fluffy”).

Q8. Who did you hang out with in high school?
A8. I was a little of everything. I was a sporty-geek? So I hung out with the jocks and nerds.

A9. Thai and Sushi
Q10. And your favorite time waster?
A10. Surfing the net
Q11. What are your hobbies?
A11. Walking my dogs, listening to music, trying independent coffee shops.
Q12. What has had the greatest influence on you (person, place or thing).
A12. Growing up in Victoria, I loved the west coast lifestyle and had to move back and live in the area.
Q13. How did you get started in your profession?
A13. I took my first computer science course in grade 10, and I liked that it was different from all of the other subjects. I was fortunate I knew right away that it was something I wanted to do.
Q14. Name something you’re really good at.
A14. Sports in general, I like playing tennis, volleyball, soccer, and hockey.
Q15. Name something you’re really bad at.
A15. Anything musical really, I can’t play any instruments or sing for that matter.
Q16. What’s your all-time favorite memory?
A16. Six-day backpacking trip on The West Coast Trail with friends.
Q17. Describe something that happened to you that changed you or made you grow.
A17. Moving to Seattle really opened up new opportunities.
Q18. Describe a typical day in the life of Hannah Kwan.
A18. Weekdays consists of: wake up, catch up on my RSS feeds, check my emails, get a coffee/breakfast, work, break to walk my dogs / some sort of exercise / run errands, more work, think about dinner, eventually make/find something to eat, watch some TV or web surfing, sleep.
